Christy Berghoef, Doctor of Ministry in The Sacred Art of Writing, has organized a fundraiser event for Michigan Public Radio. As you probably know, Michigan Public Radio is quite desperate for additional funding after the Trump administration's budget slashes to the Corporation of Public Broadcasting. It's likely going to get worse given that NPR recently investigated and uncovered damning evidence against Trump regarding the rape of underage girls, and the subsequent cover-up attempt.
But, this event will be more than a fundraiser. It will be an experience designed to lift our spirits. It’s intended to be an evening where people can step away from the world's chaos and gather together in community to remember the beauty that is all around us—celebrating the beauty of the earth and the beauty of community.
Author Christy Berghoef and poet Jack Ridl will be joined by West Michigan photographers and musicians for a free event featuring music, poetry, photography, and readings that invite us to pause and reflect on the wonder that is around us even amid chaos, and to celebrate the resilience and importance of community in such times.
This evening will include an opportunity to donate to Michigan Public Radio for those who are willing, able and feel compelled to do so. Given the chaos unfolding around us, sound, unbiased journalism has never been more critical to help us understand the complexities of the issues we face. The evening will include a brief video message from Lester Graham, Former Michigan Public environmental reporter, and Rick Steves, travel writer, activist and television personality.
This event is free and accessible to everyone. Bring your neighbors, family and friends! Refreshments will be provided and donations are optional.
