The Boat Float

The Artists group is working on a Boat Float we can use for the Pride and 4th of July Parades. They have secured a left-over cardboard boat from a school theater production and have custom outfitted a trailer to hold it. Currently they are working to paint it.

“Pride” Saturday 7th June, 2025 

Caravan Only.

Note: Float can only hold Liberty and safety.

• The Douglas Pride Parade starts at 10:30am at Saugatuck High School, Promenade to Beery Field in Douglas at 11:15am

• “Independence Day” July 4th - The parade starts at 11am. Participants/groups wishing to participate in the parade should sign up using this link and line up near the tennis courts/ High School entrance between 10:20am. 

• Parade Route – Starts at Saugatuck High School, south on Elizabeth, west on Allegan, north on Butler, east on Francis. Ends at High School.

Trailer & Boat Float Construction progress update - any one who would like to be on-call  or to help with any of these tasks please text Dawn Stafford @ 269-561-5561

1. Trailer deck complete (many thanks to volunteer Jim Erwin)

2. Trailer will be wired with lights on Monday (many thanks to Navy Veteran volunteer Russ N.)

3. Boat will be attached to finished Trailer Monday May 19th and transported to Allegan Rd. 

4. Painting of Boat / blue with white trim, and red sail to follow

6. Banner for stern of boat complete. Front leading banner under construction

Needed for Float

        American & Pride Flags /2 large and many smaller

        Green Lady Liberty Crown & Gown w/ torch to be used in all Parades. (Ask me for Jane VanDis Photo)

        Volunteer to stand/sit in bow of boat as Liberty 

• Parade Driver w/ vehicle who will transport Boat Float from Allegan Rd to Downtown. 

• BlueTooth for National Anthem

• Parade Cast for 4th of July will carry a blue wave sign. Marchers are in the water around the boat.  Dress-personify your issue! 

• Many ‘Blue Sign Waves’ for Marcher’s on the 4th need to be made (Dawn will have paint for these)

• Rainbows, Love & Peace, Declaration of Independence

• Education, Rule of Law-Justice, Habeas Corpus, LGBTQ

• Make Good Trouble, We the People, American Flags, Patriotism

• Healthcare, National Parks, Climate -(Butterflies and Bees), Trade, Economy 

• Privacy, The Emperor With No Clothes, etc.

  Funding - any $$ contribution is greatly appreciated! Still need to buy more 4x4’s, all paints, all Flags, Luon Plywood.
