Voices of Resistance

  • St. Cecilia Music Center 24 Ransom Avenue NE Grand Rapids, MI, 49503 United States (map)

Through the theme of resilience and overcoming adversity, we explore how marginalized communities persevere and advocate for change despite obstacles. We sing about empathy and understanding and the importance of listening to people’s stories, listening so that our synapses are firing so we won’t be fooled by untruths.

This season is an invitation to listen: to one another, to history, and to a wide range of voices whose experiences expand our understanding and help bridge divides. It is also about listening inward, attending to our own values and humanity, so that we can cultivate unity, community, and connection, and move through the world with intention.

Ultimately, this season calls us to stand by our neighbors when they need us most: to stand up, speak out, and draw strength from unity and collective action as we work together to create meaningful, positive change.

We urge you to join us as we celebrate the uniqueness of each individual, challenge prejudice and discrimination, acknowledge the diversity of human experience, and embrace and value the diverse identities that contribute to a more inclusive society.

Music is more than just melody – it is a transformative force that can heal, unite, and inspire. In every voice, there is hope.
