Bio

Diop Harris was born and raised in Battle Creek. A proud public school graduate and a lifelong member of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi, Diop’s path took him through East Lansing and to Washington, D.C.. His Public Policy studies at Michigan State University illuminated his lifework to fight for families like his own at the federal level. In our nation’s capital, Diop led local, statewide and national coalitions to fight for fair housing opportunities and fight back against Wall Street’s wealth extraction at Americans for Financial Reform. He worked on Capitol Hill under Senator Sherrod Brown as a legislative staffer to work with constituents and stakeholders to bring vital investments back home and to be their voice in Congress. And in his “free time,” he puts on his organizing shoes, working on campaigns for candidates like Hillary Clinton, Hillary Scholten and his old boss, Sherrod Brown. Now, Diop is back home and running to be our next congressperson from the Fourth District, ensuring our people have a fighter in the halls of power.
