The recent elections in New Jersey and Virginia were an overwhelming success, to which we contributed by writing and distributing over 10,000 postcards! Later this month, we will begin writing postcards to Michigan!

Writing postcards is easy, it’s effective, and it’s a good way to calm your anxiety about all the chaos and corruption in politics. It’s also a meaningful and pleasant thing to do while sitting around a table with neighbors and friends. We will continue to write postcards together at Blue Star Barns Coffee every 2nd and 4th Wednesday from noon to 2.

(EXCEPTION: due to the holidays, we will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 25th and Tuesday, December 23rd.)

Please support the owners and our hosts, Joe and Amy, by buying a cup of coffee or snack while you are there. They are happy to let us use one side of their shop, or you can pick up postcard packets to take home. These packets, which include 25 addresses and postcards and an instruction sheet with scripted messages, will also be available at all of our general meetings and at various protests. And soon we’ll be hosting a postcard writing session in the evening once a month—stay tuned for details. 

For our first campaign, we will send out postcards with actual headlines from Michigan news sources that combat disinformation and help voters see how harmful the Trump agenda is. Next, in May, we’ll start writing Get Out The Vote postcards. For both campaigns, if we run out of Michigan postcards, we’ll write to three other targeted swing states with important Senate races: Maine, North Carolina, and Georgia.

We appreciate it if people buy their own postcard stamps, but we don’t want the cost to prevent anyone from writing postcards, and we do have stamps available to anyone who asks for them. Or you can drop off your finished but unstamped postcards at Blue Star Barns Coffee during the dates and time mentioned above.
