The newly formed Singing Resistance community are hosting an optional song-leader workshop to practice teaching songs and to sing together in preparation for a larger event on March 15. This will be very informal and a chance to test things out before you commit. (Fair warning: we will probably take some video at this gathering to post on social media.)
Would you, or someone you know, be willing to use your singing voice to help lead us as we host a Singing Resistance gathering here in Holland? We would love for our song leaders to be as diverse as the West Michigan community, and for each person to bring their own voice and their own words. Songleaders are invited to choose, or write, their own songs. You can lead as an individual, or as part of a group with people that you know.
Once you've committed, we'll invite you to share the words of your song(s) in a document and we'll put them all in an order that makes sense for our gathering on March 15.
This is a place where everyone is welcomed and valued. We lean into nonviolence and ways of being that affirm life. We sing as part of our collective resistance against violence and oppression. We sing to envision the future that we want to see, and to embody it here and now.
